Elaine’s insurance career started in 1994 when she accepted an Administrative Assistant position with a national adjusting firm. Seeing opportunity and noting her inquisitive personality she accepted the challenge to be educated and to observe. She redirected her ambition to take on the challenge of being an adjuster in 1998. Employer mentoring and training were supplemented by Insurance Institute courses leading to her CIP in 2003, scoping training at Vale Tech, and CRM studies leading to designation in 2007.

Elaine though recognized her aptitude for research and information gathering, analysis, assessment and detail documentation made her a natural fit with liability claim adjusting. She developed proficiency in the investigation of casualty situations and a keen sense of potential liability exposure, litigation requirements and the need to always consider potential subrogation. Her experience grew as she handled general liability, employment practise, personal injury and professional liability yet still accepting property, auto and cargo claims. She developed multi lines claims experience including Multi-Provincial settings as she was control adjuster for a national auto dealership program

Elaine’s growing ability lead to her accepting the role of manager with the national; restructuring lead to Elaine parting with the national in 2010.

She accepted QA’s offer to join our team as a much needed casualty adjuster that September.

While continuing to handle all lines of claims, her focus here is casualty, especially Hospital Liability.

As her career has allowed her to earn her livelihood while gaining so much personal satisfaction, she has chosen to give back to the insurance community by serving the Insurance Institute of Manitoba and as an Ambassador for the Insurance Institute of Canada. She has served on the Insurance Council of Manitoba for two (2) consecutive terms, including service as Chairperson of both the Adjuster Council and the Administrative Council.

She is an enthusiastic student, continuing study as she works toward her Fellowship, Claims major. Other continued education opportunities are always considered and usually find Elaine participating in seminars, workshops or just that general discussion that leads to so much acquired knowledge.

Her claims handling philosophy emphasize the importance of Customer Service Excellence, Professionalism and Empathy. As she puts it, “Always, we have to remember that we are assisting people who are often dealing with personal tragedy. Whether we give good news or bad, everyone is entitled to be treated with professionalism and consideration.”

QA Adjusting Company is delighted Elaine shares our philosophy and is a very important part of our team.
